ETHICAL CODE


1)The therapist shall practice the profession with responsibility, commitment and suitability.

2)He shall work with humility, free of judgements and with deep respect.

3)He shall practice Reflexology at the maximum of his skills regardless of the patient's religion, political ideologie, social class, activity or race.

4)He shall update, study and research as well as relate with his equals for the mutual enrichment.

5)He shall admit the limitations of his professional role and he shall not enter in grounds of other profession's competence.

6)He shall not make a promise of cure.

7)He shall keep the professional secret and confidentiality, not spreading information that belongs to the patient.

8)If the case needs, he shall refer or suggest the patient to a medical consultant.

9)He shall never drop in value the opinion of a medical doctor.

10)He shall not diagnose.

11)He shall always remember that the care and respect of the patient comes first.

12)He shall avoid the abuse coming from the privilege between patient and therapist.

13)He shall not put pressure on the patient for him to continue the treatment nor shall create a link of dependency.

14)By no means he shall promote the patient to abandon other therapy he might be following.

15)He shall be aware of the technical considerations during the treatment.

16)He shall know, through the association representing and protecting him, all his rights as a professional.

 

Annex to the ethical code

 

Technique considerations

1)The place of work shall be adequate, tidy and in good conditions; it must offer an appropriate frame of continence.

2)The appearance and clothing of the therapist must be sober and neat.

3)The therapist shall wash his hands before and after the practice.

4)The fingernails must be neat, short and filed (free of edgings); also he shall be free of accessories (rings, bracelets, watches, etc)

5)The therapist shall correctly place the patient and offer him comfort.

6)The therapist shall adopt a proper position with his body for his correct relaxation.

7)The therapist shall pay attention to the kind of touch and contact.

8)The therapist shall explain the patient how to sit up at the end of a session.

9)The therapist shall remind the patient the possible reactions between sessions.

10)The therapist shall not serve infectious patients, with a few exceptions according to specific pathologies and with special precautions.

11)It is important for the therapist to work with pleasure, in a state of inner peace as for the contact he establishes, he might somehow affect the patient.
